The Bellevue School District web site was an archive of new and old material and videos, which slowed the site down and made it cumbersome for parents and others outside the district to use. By defining our primary audience as parents and external visitors, Jacque directed a fresh new site to be user-friendly, fast, high quality and above all visual, yet developed on a minimal budget. Strategies included utilizing color to draw the eye to key areas, using high quality images in front page rotating slides to present multiple stories, producing short ‘story-telling’ videos told through the voices of teachers, staff and students, and presenting powerful writing to deliver messages quickly for a busy parent and community audience. Before and after screen shots of the key pages of the site illustrate the changes.
The new site continues to receive positive feedback from visitors. In a 2013 Parent Satisfaction Survey, over 74% of parents responded they were ‘Highly Satisfied’ or Satisfied’ with the site.
